The Dick Cavett Show, 2nd November 1974: Bowie and his band perform The Flares' 1961 US hit single Footstompin' (written by Aaron Collins), segued into Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate (written by Armand J. Piron and performed by - among many others - The Original Memphis Five in the 1920s), incorporating an original funky guitar riff created by Carlos Alomar (which later became the basis for the Bowie/Lennon/Alomar composition Fame). The show was broadcast two days later on 4th November.
Carlos Alomar, Warren Peace, Anthony Hinton and the gorgeous Ava Cherry are all present and correct.
